Reid Stories: Metroid Scene Plus VECTO Chapter 2.9

Here's a scene from Metroid: Other M, which recaps the ending of Super Metroid:

"Metroid (メトロイド Metoroido?) is a series of science fiction action-adventure video games by Nintendo. It chronicles the missions of space-faring bounty hunter Samus Aran who protects the galaxy from the depredations of the Space Pirates and their attempts to harness the power of the eponymous Metroids. Metroid combines the platforming of Super Mario Bros. and the exploration aspect of The Legend of Zelda with a decidedly darker atmosphere and a greater emphasis on nonlinear gameplay." - Wikipedia

Here's where you can buy the Metroid Prime Trilogy, which is better than Metroid: Other M: Metroid Prime Trilogy.

And here's my VECTO scene of the week:

(Previously: The thief, who Vecto names Chais, mentions planet Zendora, surprising Vecto.)

“Zendora?” Vecto was shocked at hearing that word again. “Where is it!?” he demanded.

“Hey, wait a minute! You’re probably trying to trick me,” Chais said, holding the weapon upright again.

Vecto stepped forward.

“Take one more step, and I’ll fire!”

Vecto did anyway.

The kid had no choice but to fire. Bullets streamed from the chain gun as Vecto approached him. Firepower struck Vecto’s shields as Vecto reached out and grabbed the chain gun, yanking it from Chais’ grasp. Smoke fumed from Vecto’s body as the bullets disintegrated on his shields.

“Tell me where Zendora is, and I’ll let you keep my weapons,” Vecto said, tossing the gun aside.

Chais stepped back in shock, but looked at the weapons lying on the surface. It was quite some deal, he thought.

“No tricks?” he asked.

“Robots don’t lie,” Vecto said, although he could if he wanted to.

“Seems like finding Zendora must be pretty important to you,” Chais said, scratching his chin, taking him up on his offer.

“So where’s Zendora?”

“Heck if I know,” Chais shrugged. “I stowawayed on a ship leaving the planet and can’t get back. Don’t even care to tell you the truth.”

“Do you know who does?” Vecto asked.

“And why do you care, anyway?”

“I’ll spare your life if you tell me,” Vecto stated.

“Look, I’m not scared of you!” Chais clarified. “And what happened to just trading weapons?”

“Do you even know who I am?”

“Vecto. Remember? You told me,” Chais said. He gestured his hands in the air. “Anyway, a guy named Leroy Johnson might know where Zendora is. He’s a Zarlero master.” He glanced away. “Wouldn’t train me though.”

“Leroy … Where’s he at?” Vecto asked.

“Lives at a farm about 30 miles from here, west--past an abandoned factory site,” Chais said, walking toward his sword.

“Lead me there,” Vecto ordered.

Chais picked up his black sword and looked it over. “You know, I guess you’re not that bad after all. Might let you join my fan club.” He laughed. “And, um, sorry about blowing up your car and all.”

Vecto was silent.

“Don’t worry. No attacks,” Chais reassured, sheathing the blade. He exercised his shoulder and walked to the edge of the building, looking down as the last bit of sunlight faded in the distance. “Well, better get started walk’n,” Chais said, turning to look at Vecto. “I’ll lead you to the guy.”

Vecto couldn’t help but think of that name. Leroy Johnson, Vecto thought, that traitor.

(Who is Leroy Johnson? Why does Vecto call him a traitor? And does he know how to get to Zendora? Find out more in the next installment of VECTO!)

    1. Thanks! Although this scene is essentially the same as far as content goes, I recently went through some revisions after getting the story back from the editor and added more of a humorous personality to Crysilis. I'm still going to release the draft version in increments, but I'm looking forward to the final one being released. I had no idea I made so many mistakes! LOL
