A Funny Science Fiction Picture for Eye Candy Blogfest on New Year's Day

It's a new year, which means new goals. I thought about blogging about my goals for the year, but I can sum that up by saying I want to read, write, watch and listen to more science fiction stories and share it with others.

Alternatively, I could have written a book review of an old, little-known novel I read (which I still may blog about).

Or I could have shared a 300-word story I wrote (my first attempt at writing flash fiction).

Ultimately, I decided to participate in Vicki Rocho's Eye Candy Blogfest from her Rambles & Randomness blog.

I found out about it from Alex J. Cavanaugh's blog.

Basically, participants are asked to post a picture that makes them smile. So here's my pick:

One caption I read is: "This is what staring in the prequels did to them." I thought of one for C-3PO to say to R2-D2: "Don't worry Artoo; the original trilogy is coming out in 3D."

But I think actual quotes from C-3PO in the movies and shows would be better:

"Excuse me sir, but that R2-D2 is in prime condition, a real bargain."

"I beg your pardon. What do you mean, naked?" [Artoo chatters] "My parts are showing? My goodness."

"I can assure you, they will never get me onto one of those dreadful starships."

"My obtuse little friend, if they had needed our help, they would have asked for it, hmm? You obviously have a great deal to learn about human behavior."

"Is my head on strait?"

"What happened? I had the most peculiar dream."

"We seem to be made to suffer. It's our lot in life."

"Artoo says the chances of survival are seven hundred one."

"We are now part of the tribe!"

"Days like this make me think I was manufactured under a bad sign."

Can you think of another caption?

  1. OHHHH I LOVE IT! You made me laugh out loud. Great picture! Thanks for joining in the fun!!!!

  2. Vicki, thanks for hosting the blogfest! I enjoyed looking at everyone's pictures.

  3. Very Funny! Another heading might be "I think we're cunningly disguised... I don't think anyone will recognize us as common laborers, R2D2" Happy New Year!

  4. LOL! I love all your quotes! I can just imagine C3-PO waxing on about all the languages he's fluent in. :)

  5. Oh those are great! Where on earth did you find that photo?

  6. i don't know. there's something wrong with mixing the Walmart universe and the Star Wars universe. still funny, but in a weird way.

  7. Too funny! Great quotes, too. Return of the Jedi will always be my favorite. I've never watched the prequels.

    Happy New Year!

  8. too awesome!
i love the 'my obtuse little friend...' quote best!
    very cool! :)

  9. pssssst. You've won something over at my blog.

  10. Thanks everyone for enjoying the picture and commenting!

Danette, I guess C-3PO and R2-D2 need to work on their disguise if you recognized them!

Amy, apparently C-3PO also is fluent in Walmart-lingo, Walmartnese -- whatever you want to call it.

Alex, the picture was shared from I think if you click on the picture, it will give you the url.

Michelle, I guess Walmart must be bigger than we imagined if it spread to the Star Wars galaxy.

Jamie, "Return of the Jedi" is my favorite, also. But you should give the prequels a chance. Despite what critics say, I actually enjoyed them, minus "The Phantom Menace."

Aspiring_x, that's right, "... if they had needed our help, they would have asked for it ..."

The Golden Eagle, I'm glad you liked it and are now following this blog.

Vicki, wow, I won the Eye Candy Blogfest. Thanks!
