Is Green Lantern Movie Worth Watching?

"Green Lantern" recently came out in movie theaters. I haven't seen it yet but have heard mixed reviews by those I know who've seen the movie. A fan of the comics disliked the film while another not so familiar with the comics liked it.

Below are two trailers for the movie. If you've seen the film, is it worth watching? If you haven't seen the movie, what are your impressions?

  1. I will try and have my review up by lunch. It is entertaining, but should/could have been better.

  2. A friend of mine saw it and said it wasn't that bad, but I didn't see it this past weekend. I'm a big DC comics fan and didn't want major disappointment.

  3. Budd, thanks for doing a review of the movie. I'll check it out.

Alex, thanks for the input. I'm starting to think the movie isn't worth seeing in theaters -- unless the 3D is really good. It may be worth a Redbox rental when it comes out on DVD, though.

  4. I was a Marvel reader as a kid rather than DC. But I'll see this one as the special effects look really cool. I think it will be above average and look forward to seeing it.

  5. Stephen Tremp, the effects do indeed look cool. Doesn't hurt to give it a chance, right?

  6. At least he wasn't the Wonder Twins, but Aquaman got more love than Green Lantern on that show. Thankfully, my friend explained why Green Lantern is so cool. I mean, having the power to create anything you can imagine... that's pretty awesome stuff. Obviously, the more imaginative the person, the better, and that was my main concern going in to this movie -- that the things the writers came up with for Green Lantern to create wouldn't be that creative.

  7. Canada, by mentioning the Wonder Twins, I can't help thinking of the phrase: "Wonder Twin powers activate!" Also, Green Lantern does have an awesome power, and you made a good point.
